Tired of stealing paper coasters from bars? Try making your own with some scrap wood, a wood burning tool, and some stain/polyurethane.
Start by testing out your wood burning tool on some scrap wood. The tool usually come with different tip attachments to achieve your desired effect so play around and see which ones you like.
Once you feel comfortable, sketch out your desired designs in pencil onto the wood block. If it’s an intricate design, I like to transfer the drawing onto the wood using a tracing paper transfer method. Then follow the lines using your wood burning tool until you’re happy with how it looks.
Then apply your favorite stain and / or polyurethane. We suggest sanding in between coats to reduce any air bubbles or discrepancies in the coat. Enjoy!
